Grachtenrondvaart Alkmaar (Canal Boat Tours Alkmaar) is celebrating their 70th anniversary with free boat tours and poffertjes (little Dutch pancakes) on 27th May 2018. Did I get your attention? Good! Now read on....
This family run Alkmaar business welcomes over 40 000 visitors on their boats every year. They are even #1 for tours on Trip Advisor (Alkmaar Tours is 2nd, but I’m ok with that!).
The boat tour is fun – I have done it loads over the few years I have lived in Alkmaar! You sail on an open boat along old canals and past beautiful buildings. The boat sails in most weather and you will soon see why you can’t have the larger covered boats in the city centre: some of the bridges you go under are so low that you actually look at them and think that there is no way a boat that big will get under a bridge that low. But it does! And by the time you have finished the 45 minute tour, you are best friends with all your neighbouring passengers as you have all had to get cosy while you duck and duck again and duck again.....
The free boat tours take place on 27th May, 2018 from 11:00 – 16:00 and depart from de Mient (near the Waagplein). And after your tour, don’t forget to head over to Suzette Creperie Bar where you will be treated to some free poffertjes. FREE POFFERTJES! If that isn't enough to make you want to head out on the 27th, then I don't know what is!
It’s going to be a great day, so don’t miss it!
